I began studying the yoga practices of BKS Iyengar in 1991 and then teaching classes in 1994. The focus of my practice reflected a deepening commitment to healing arts when I became a Massage Therapist in 1993. My awareness of the importance of breath in yoga, healing, and in life was greatly increased as I began practicing Chi Nei Tsang (Taoist abdominal massage) in the mid-nineties. Breath awareness became an integral part of my healing work and yoga teaching at that point. I met my yoga teacher, Laura Yon-Brooks of Planet Earth Yoga in Seattle, and began studying the tradition of yoga as taught by TKV Desikachar in the late nineties. Mr. Desikachar's work has a strong focus on adaptation of yoga practice for the individual's needs and the integration of our movement with breath.  After my two-year teachers certification program with Laura I became a registered teacher with Yoga Alliance.

My teaching style reflects many years of personal experience with healing arts including:  physical therapy, Pilates, Traditional Chinese Medicine, chi kung and various massage/bodywork and movement practices. A skill in the therapeutic application of yoga and dedication to helping my students practice in a way that works for them distinguishes my teaching. I offer group classes as well as individual sessions for those who want to develop a personal practice or desire individual support. I welcome students of all abilities even if they feel restricted by their age, body type, injuries or other limitations.
