melissa schussler-paz

Melissa began her journey of yoga as a young child. Through her parents, she was influenced by the philosophical teachings of yoga, and meditation, and later discovered the physical practice when she was studying to be a modern dancer in college.  She finds now her practice offers self-reflection, peace, acceptance, and an opportunity to be present to what is in each moment. As a mother of two young boys, she finds that yoga is her way of life. Through practice and awareness, she is reminded to be present and compassionate amongst the busy doings of everyday life and to settle into whatever arises.

Melissa has been teaching since 2001, and teaches a fluid hatha yoga class focused on body awareness, and proper alignment coordinated with the breath as a means to stay present to the body, mind, and heart. She enjoys teaching all types of students and creates an environment of self exploration through the physical postures combined with attention to the philosophy of yoga. In her classes, each individual is respected and has access to discover a renewed sense of harmony and balance through practicing and developing strength, flexibility, breath work, and a calm mind. You will leave her classes feeling nourished, relaxed, and grateful. She is certified in both Ananda yoga, a gentle spiritual practice, and in 2008 received additional certification from Pacific Yoga in Seattle, WA with instructors, Theresa Elliott, and Kathryn Payne.
