Intro Series: (Tuesday Series: September 16-October 21, October 28-December 2; Thursday Series: September 18-October 23, October 30-December 11; no class Thanksgiving) This 6 week program is designed to teach the fundamentals of yoga postures and breathing for students new to yoga. Each class builds progressively on the previous class, providing a solid foundation for our Basic Flow classes. Feel refreshed and rejuvenated! Pre-registration is required. Basic Flow: This is a class for people with some background in yoga. There will be strength building poses and a slow flowing sequence of postures that builds on the Intro level class. We will explore fundamental standing poses, forward bends, basic backbends, twists, and begin to build strength for inversions (handstands, headstands, etc.). Completion of an Intro level class or some previous yoga experience is recommended. This class builds on the Intro level classes.
Mixed Levels: This is a basic hatha yoga class based in the vinyasa or flow style. In this class there will be multiple variations of poses offered for varying levels of students. Some yoga experience recommended.
Intermediate/Strong Flow: This is a dynamic class with a powerful flow of poses, and more intricate variations of basic yoga postures. There is an emphasis on strength building. Variations will be offered for varying levels. At least 6 months experience and comfort in our Intermediate Flow classes recommended.
Strong Flow: This is a dynamic class with a powerful flow of poses, and more intricate variations on basic yoga postures. There is an emphasis on strength building. At least one year of yoga and comfort with strong sun salutations recommended for this class.
Gentle/Restorative: This is a slow paced class which emphasizes slowing down and relaxation. There are gentle variations of traditional yoga poses, as well as restorative poses done with props. Appropriate for beginners, people seeking to relax and restore, or just looking for a gentler practice.
Prenatal: This is a class for all moms-to-be. There will be gentle variations on traditional yoga postures that specifically benefit the needs of pregnant women. No experience necessary.
Mom and Baby Postnatal Yoga: New moms come back into their bodies with gentle strength building, stretching and have bonding time with the little one. Babies up to 1 year welcome. Postnatal (without baby) - This class is designed for all moms, allowing you to gently get back into your body; rebuild strength, flexibility, experience a quiet mind, and take time for yourself! This class is the perfect place to begin your yoga practice after giving birth. Open to all levels.
Parent and Toddler (Family Yoga): This class is creative, interactive and playful for toddlers ages 1-3 years old and a parent. Through yoga, movement, games and song your child will develop body awareness, social, and motor skills. Give your toddler a place to be their true, radiant selves! For Family Yoga (4-7 year olds), parents are encouraged, but not required to participate.
Kids Yoga: Children discover yoga through movement exploration, story, play and fun. Yoga helps kids develop balance, flexibility, strength, focus, and relaxation.
Heal Your Back: This is a class for those suffering from back pain or discomfort including: lower back, hips, neck, shoulders, and upper back. Learn simple and safe techniques to improve core body strength and release chronically tense areas. The practice will be adjusted for the safety and needs of the individuals in class. This class is a 6 week series: (Monday series: September 8-October 13, October 20-November 24; Wednesday Series: September 10-October 15, October 22-November 26).
Intro to Meditation: In this series, we explore the basics of mindfulness meditation. There will be time for group discussion and questions as we practice paying attention in the present moment using a variety of meditation techniques. 3 week series: May 4, 11, & 18.
Yoga Nidra: Also known as yogic sleep or sleep with awareness, Yoga Nidra is a practice that is intended to induce full-body relaxation and a deep meditative state of consciousness. In our over stimulated daily lives, Yoga Nidra is a method of entering into deep rest, physically, mentally, and emotionally, working on the conscious and subconscious levels of our beings.
Sunday Night Series: Series 1 (September 7-28): Source Yoga Reads! Book Group reading Ekhart Tolle’s The Power of Now. Series 2 (October 5-26): Intro to Meditation. Series 3 (November 2-23): Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction.
